Is the classic bed suitable for nursing?

Yes, the Classic bed is suitable for on-bed nursing. The bed raises up to 80cm (measured from floor to top of mattress platform) which is waist level. Even the tallest carers will be able to perform on-the-bed care at this height.

Is it easy to get in and out of the bed?

The Classic lowers to an easy access height of 40cm (measured from floor to top of mattress platform). This will be suitable for most users and can be raised electrically to support getting off the bed. For users who struggle to swing their legs onto the bed when getting in, a bed that lowers closer to the floor may be more beneficial - see our SIgnature and Solo bed collections.

Does the profiling bed come with a mattress?

The classic profiling bed does not include a mattress. Mattresses are sold separately and can be added to your basket at any time. Our pressure care mattresses are usually purchased with a profiling bed. These are designed to relieve and prevent pressure damage. We also have a collection of comfort mattresses that are suitable for the Classic bed.

Does the profiling bed come with side rails?

Yes, the Opera Classic comes with side rails as standard. They can be raised to prevent falls and when not in use they drop down below the mattress and act as a wooden side to the bed.

Can the side rails be operated from within the bed?

The wooden side rails can only be operated by a person outside of the Classic bed. Raising the rails to prevent falls is simple and a finger-operated securing latch holds them firmly in place. The rails can be lowered below the mattress when not in use.

  • The Classic bed raises up to the waist level height of 80cm. Raising the bed makes it easier to deliver on-the-bed care and reduces back strain.
  • Find the perfect position that’s supportive and comfortable for you by elevating the backrest. Have better spinal support without needing to use pillows.
  • Improve the circulation in your lower body by gently raising the leg rest. This is particularly useful if you have swelling in your legs or conditions such as odema.
  • The whole bed can be tilted forward and back, also commonly known as ‘Trendelenburg’. This is beneficial if you have repository conditions but should only be used under medical guidance.
  • The Classic bed is controlled by a wired remote with large soft-touch buttons. When not in use the control clips onto the side of the bed.
  • Choose the Classic in your preferred wood colour of Oak, Beech or Walnut. The soft wood finish adds a homely touch to any bedroom interior.
  • Move the Classic easily and safely with the 4-braked castors. The swivel castors allow for easy manoeuvring whilst cleaning or decorating.
